What is the biggest challenge facing woman and girls in your country today?
Women all around the world face certain problems in their daily life. They are given less freedom than men. The society restricts women’s lifestyle to a certain limit. Women are controlled by mens. In our country Pakistan women have restriction to their lifestyle. The society treats men superior to women. In our culture women are not allowed to leave their house. In villages of Pakistan many people believe that educating women is useless hence they don’t send their daughters to school. They believe that girls are supposed to learn how to cook and do daily chores only. People think women only come in this world to serve men. However there are many NGO’s who are doing campaign to raise awareness in the villages so that the girls there get educated.
Men and women are pillars of society; without their equal participation in all spheres of life, no society can progress. As far as the capabilities of women are concerned, they are no less than men. In Pakistan our society believes that women should not do jobs as the men are supposed to do the job. In offices there are more men than women hands women are not considered important which is absolutely wrong. However over the past couple of years there has being an increase in the number a woman working in offices. Many women have achieved higher post than men hence the society must consider them as a successful and powerful leader.
In our country sportsmen are given so much importance and love. Like our cricket is loved by every Pakistani. But in our society and culture if a women plays a certain sport she is considered useless. Usually many women in our society become doctor hence everyone think that girls can only be a doctor. Over the couples of years there is a change in the sports industry of Pakistan as they set up a women cricket team. They were sent to different countries to compete with other players.
If we look at the city, the women have fewer problems as compared to village women but still they face many problems. They struggle for their rights themselves: they don’t get any encouragement and support from their families. Sexual exploitation is another big problem for the women in Pakistan as is extreme violence. Although our government is trying its utmost for the betterment of women but until and unless the people are fully aware of women’s rights, the dream of a prosperous Pakistan will not come true. As it is said, “That society can never develop where the women are not given equal rights as those of men”. Recently the government of Pakistan has passed a bill of “Women Rights” and it is hoped that it will help our women a lot. It is the foremost duty of our government to educate the women of our villages and make them aware of their rights. Feudalism is a greater impediment to social, economic and political development of women. It has utterly damaged the state of women in Pakistan. Feudalistic attitude in any society is not a good omen. It often discourages national development of a country.
Regrettably enough, the state of women in Pakistan has been reduced to the beasts and animals. It is only feudal who exercise absolute power over women and their male member are at their call and back. They dare not voice against their opinions or views. They are their slaves and nothing more. The poor farmers whether male or female heavily depend on them for their livelihood. They have no any source of income except harboring the fields of landlords. Moreover, feudalism is a huge hindrance to educational development whether it is for girls or boys. They don’t allow the government to build schools in their premises. If government does this forcibly such schools soon are turned into go downs or animals quarters. As a result, no girl and boy can get education. They think that if they acquire education, then we will not be able to lead them by their nose. In this way, they want to keep them illiterate throughout life so that they may not be able to demand of their basic rights. Surprisingly enough, it is feudal who promote culture of honor killing and discourage the factors leading towards better state of women.
