Refugee Issues Awareness Panel

Harvard GlobalWE invites you and your guests to join us for an online discussion surrounding the global refugee crisis with our Refugee Issues Awareness Panel.

Please join us as we discuss the refugee situation in Asia, Africa and the Middle East with panelists Hoa Tran, Rosalind Raddatz and Zainab Kufaishi. Our panelists will speak on personal experiences and efforts to support refugees and alleviate the crisis, with a focus on the plight of refugee women and girls. The panel will be moderated by VP Outreach GlobalWE, Sajifa H. Shroff (President, Harvard Club of UAE). 


Panelists

Hoa Tran has worked on refugee and immigration issues since 1988. She currently serves as the Asia Team Lead in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) for the Asia Near East Region (ANE) managing humanitarian protection and assistance for vulnerable populations in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, she covered the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) portfolio in PRM’s Policy and Resource Planning office as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Diplomacy Fellow.


Rosalind Raddatz is a passionate and lifelong activist for human rights, refugees, as well as economic and educational emancipation. She is Chair of the Executive Board for Heshima Kenya, an organization that works with unaccompanied minor refugee girls in East Africa.  She has more than a decade of leadership experience working with several non-profit organizations, including the Canadian Mental Health Association and Welcome Hall Mission.  She is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS), University of Cambridge.  Rosalind has used her academic and professional skills adroitly as a crisis consultant and negotiator.


Zainab Kufaishi  is a passionate humanitarian, having most recently volunteered at refugee camps in Greece. Zainab’s focus includes advocacy for female empowerment in the workplace as a member of Invesco Women’s Network Management Committee and Head of Corporate Partnerships for the Dubai chapter of the Ellevate network. She has more than 15 years’ experience in the investment management industry and is now responsible for developing Invesco Asset Management’s fundraising efforts and relationships with large institutional investors in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). She has also fundraised professionally for various NGOs including Plan International, The Children’s Society, and Amnesty International.
